Tdap Immunization Requirement for 7th Grade Enrollment
As your child prepares to enter 7th grade, we want to remind you of an important health requirement. In accordance with California state law, all students entering 7th grade must provide proof of having received the Tdap vaccine (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) before the first day of school.
The Tdap vaccine is essential in protecting your child and others from three serious illnesses:
-
Tetanus (lockjaw) causes painful muscle stiffness and can be life-threatening.
-
Diphtheria is a respiratory disease that can lead to breathing problems, heart failure, and paralysis.
-
Pertussis (whooping cough) is highly contagious and can cause severe coughing fits, especially dangerous for infants and young children.
The Tdap booster is typically given around age 11–12 and is a critical step in maintaining your child’s immunization schedule.
To ensure your child is cleared to start school on time, please submit documentation of their Tdap vaccination as soon as possible.
You may send a paper copy with your student, or email it directly to Ms. Fogle in the Assistant Principal’s Office at [email protected]. If you need assistance or have questions, please contact Ms. Fogle at (510) 317-5512.
Thank you for your attention to this important health requirement and for helping us keep our school community safe and healthy.
